The 12 Steps of NA
Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a 12-step program that guides members through recovery from drug addiction. The 12 steps aim to motivate members toward positive change across Atlanta, DeKalb, Georgia. The steps are:
- Admit powerlessness over addiction and that life has become unmanageable.
- Come to believe in a Power greater than oneself that can restore sanity.
- Make a decision to turn will and life over to God/Higher Power’s care.
- Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of oneself.
- Admit to God/Higher Power, oneself, and another human being the exact nature of wrongs.
- Become entirely ready to have God/Higher Power remove all character defects.
- Humbly ask God/Higher Power to remove shortcomings.
- Make a list of all those harmed and become willing to make amends.
- Make direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when doing so would injure them or others.
- Continue to take personal inventory and promptly admit when wrong.
- Seek through prayer and meditation to improve conscious contact with God/Higher Power, praying only for knowledge of God’s will and the power to carry it out.
- Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, carry this message to other addicts and practice these principles in all affairs.
