The WFMH Board, 2001-2003

At the Membership Assembly in Vancouver on 25 July 2001 Ahmed El
Azayem (Egypt) ended his term as WFMH President, and Pirkko Lahti,
Executive Director of the Finnish Association for Mental Health, took
over the position. L. Patt Franciosi (USA) was chosen by the Assembly
as President Elect, for a term which will start at the Melbourne Congress
in February 2003. Also at the Assembly, Marten deVries resigned after
two years as Secretary General, following two years served as President.
For an interim period Pirkko Lahti has agreed to serve as Secretary
General/CEO in addition to her role as President. At the Finnish Association
for Mental Health Mirja Sevon acts as her staff liaison to WFMH.

Seven people left the Board in 2001 after completing their terms.
The Federation sends its best wishes and thanks to those who retired
as Members-at-Large, Knud Jensen (Denmark), Shimpei Inoue (Japan),
Mamdouh Jabr (Palestinian Authority), Andres Gaitan (Mexico) and Harvey
Whiteford (Australia), and to the Regional Vice Presidents whose terms
ended, Eva Gonzalez (Philippines) and Hassan Kassim Khan (Yemen).

The Board which serves from July 2001 to February 2003 has 23 members
from 18 countries. There are 9 Members-at-Large and 9 Regional Vice
Presidents.
